Apple has released its new batch of stronger and faster iPhones-the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro Max, and iPhone 12 Mini.
The iPhone mini has a 5.4inch screen while the iPhone 12 has a 6.1inch screen. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini are made from glass and aluminum. Though the iPhone 12 has the same screen size as the iPhone 11, it is thinner, lighter, and smaller than its predecessor.
The iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max have a bigger screen along with a fused steel band.
What makes the iPhone 12 special?
- Tougher screens:
The iPhone 12 range comes with a “super retina XDR display” making colors seem more vibrant due to the OLED screen. The screens also have a new type of glass known as a ceramic shield.
Apple claims that these phones are four times tougher and provide a better grip which makes it less likely to smash if they slip out of your pocket or hand.
This is the one feature that makes them different from the previous versions of the iPhone.
- Enhanced low-light photos:
The iPhone 12 smartphone range captures better low-light photos. The iPhone 12 Pro has three 12MP rear cameras along with a 4x optical zoom. The rear cameras also have an additional LiDAR scanner that capture the depth which help focus in low-light faster. The entire range also has the NightMode feature to capture clearer photos.
However, Apple has failed to provide the in-demand zooming option.
Phones from Samsung have embedded telescoping lenses which enable 10 times optical zoom and 100 times digital zoom.
- Faster charging:
The entire iPhone 12 range is powered by the A14 chip which is also found in the iPad Air 2020. These phones are also compatible with a 5G sim card. There is also an additional Smart Data Mode feature that switches you to 4G and helps you save battery when it thinks you don’t need it.
However, a few years down the line when you do require 5G speeds, then what happens?
The iPhone 12 range also has a MagSafe wireless charging feature built into the phones. Magnets at the back of the handsets make it easier for chargers and other accessories to snap on.
Are the iPhone 12 smartphones worth spending money on right now?
The iPhone 12 is priced at $799, the mini at 699$, the Pro at 1000$, and the Pro Max at 1100$. The price increases as the storage capacity goes up.
Apple has also revealed that they won’t be providing a power brick or headphones.
So, if you need them, you need to shell out an additional 38$.
Are the astronomical prices of these smartphones and their additional accessory costs worth it?
One could easily make-do and purchase the iPhone 11 or the iPhone SE that provides the same if not better features than the iPhone 12 range.
The iPhone 12 is a significant upgrade for those using the older versions of the iPhone.
It is one such smartphone that you might not need at the moment but will be a necessity a few years down the line, but Apple would have introduced the iPhone 13 or iPhone 14 by then. It makes sense to wait for the better versions, does it not?
All in all, the iPhone 12 smartphone range is for those of you willing to shell out extra bucks just for the upgraded design with an additional feature or two.
